Calling All Anti-Violence Advocates!!!

Did you know 40% of the Prosecutors in the Fresno County DA’s Homicide Division have resigned their positions since receiving a 9% pay cut in 2011? This is important to all of us because these Prosecutors are the people responsible for putting murderers behind bars. The reason there have been pay cuts is because of the budget imposed by the Fresno County Board of Supervisors. Yet, according to this insightful report “…current County contracts give higher salaries to Public Defenders than to Prosecutors.” An attorney working in public service is already taking a huge pay cut compared to what they could make in the private sector. Paying for college after law school is a huge expense; the dedicated Prosecutors who choose to represent “the People” rather than defending scum do so because they want to what is right by all of us.

If you think the Fresno County Board of Supervisors should reconsider their position on this matter and or raise the salaries of Prosecutors, let them know.  Express your concern to them in the name of public safety, their failure to reconsider is a danger to all of us. Criminals can and will find the loophole in the system and exploit it.

Here is a list of the Supervisors, including the areas they represent and an email address. We urge you to email the Supervisor in your District and tell them how you feel about this situation. Remember through our combined efforts we can make our communities safe for one and all!

Marcus and His Mom

Inspired by a profound tragedy, our organization was founded in memory of Marcus Lynn Ochoa Snowden, affectionately known as “D-bo”.

Marcus Lynn Snowden was taken from us on October 22nd, 2011 in a horrific act of violence. In his 18 years on this earth Marcus touched many people with his craziness, kindness and willingness to protect others. We want to remember him and the positive things he did in his life and for the tremendous amount of love he gave to his family and friends.

As of today there have been two individuals arrested for this crime, even so there are still others who need to be brought to justice. We hope and pray that additional arrests will be made and that people in the community of Kerman, CA who may know information about this case will step forward and communicate with law enforcement.

How can you as concerned members of the community help our cause? By sharing our story, we need others to help get the word out by reminding people that this investigation is still ongoing and leads are needed to be able to put everyone involved in this crime behind bars.

Key pieces of information about the events that happened the early morning hours of October 22nd, 2011 are vital; information consisting of phone messages, text messages and especially clear and concise eyewitness accounts are crucial pieces of evidence necessary for making additional arrests. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 488-3111.

By not cooperating with law enforcement you are doing Marcus as well as your entire community, a terrible injustice.

Over the course of three weeks, nearly 1500 fliers were posted up around the town of Kerman, CA and distributed to local businesses and organizations in an effort to raise awareness about the case being unsolved. We also felt it necessary to try to reach out to individuals who may have had information about the case and give them a push in the direction of law enforcement.
