A Personal Message from Marcus Lynn Snowden’s Mother…

Hello everyone, I would like to start by introducing myself to those of you who don’t know me. My name is Roxanne Ochoa and I live in Kerman, CA. On October 22, 2011…lives were forever changed in a horrific act of violence. My beloved son, Marcus Lynn Ochoa Snowden (18 years old) was killed at a house party on Sunset and 8th St. in Kerman, CA.  There were approximately 70-80 young people who attended this party and some were witnesses to this tragedy. So far, there have been two individuals arrested in the murder of my son. However there are still more people who were involved, who have not been arrested due to a lack of witnesses willing to come forward. The police cannot make an arrest based on hearsay and need more information to arrest and convict these individuals.

Marcus (also affectionately known as D-bo) was always a happy child and was so full of life and love since the day he was born. He always put a smile on our faces and liked to make everyone laugh with his jokes and impersonations. He was a good friend to those who knew him and was always willing to help out a friend need. He loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed visiting his grandparent’s house to eat and watch movies. Marcus had many artistic talents including drawing, music, tattoo art and cutting hair. He was getting ready to finish up his senior year and had planned to get his Barber’s license. Following that he would attend Fresno City College as a business major. He had dreams of one day being a business owner and having his own Barber Shop. He was also a standout athlete; the heart and dedication he put forth was noticed by everyone around him.

The dreams that Marcus had for his future have been cut short because of this senseless act. I am here to be a voice for my son and take a stand against violence. So I am asking each person to please help me in getting the word out about this tragic event. As parents we want our children to be safe in our town.  And yet there are still people in this community…walking in our streets, in our grocery stores and in the parks where our children play who had something to do with this crime.

Please ask your friends and family to visit our “Together Against Violence” website founded in memory of Marcus Lynn Ochoa Snowden.
